In 1770-1776 (and actually for many years previous to this period), Colonial pastors (of all denominations) lit the fire of freedom in the hearts of their congregants like no generation has ever seen–before or since. The British Crown was so frustrated with these patriot-pastors that they coined a moniker for them. They were called, “The Black (or Black-Robed) Regiment.” In truth, Colonial pastors were more influential in the “holy cause of liberty” (Patrick Henry) from their pulpits than any military regiment on the battlefield. And, yes, many pastors in Colonial America also fought on the battlefields in our War for Independence.

More gun handling advice

from our esteemed vice-shotgunner-in-chief.

Apparently, Attorney Biden is not aware of safe gun handling rules.  According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the ten safe gun handling rules are:
  1. Always keeps the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Firearms should be unloaded when not actually in use.
  3. Don’t rely on your gun’s “safety.”
  4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
  5. Use correct ammunition.
  6. If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, handle with care.
  7. Always wear eye and ear protection when shooting.
  8. Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before shooting.
  9. Don’t alter or modify your gun, and have guns serviced regularly.
  10. Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the firearm you are using.

Well done Mr. Biden.  More bad legal advice coming from someone who supposedly has a law degree and practiced as an attorney.  First, giving advice to fire into the air if you “think” someone is outside trying to get in to your house and now this gem.

Is this not enough to be disbarred now?



Taking Action

It’s fairly common understanding that principles mean nothing unless you are willing to act on them.  In fact, the whole idea of principle-driven action was one of my motivating factors for starting to write here – it gave me not only an outlet, but a way to seed my thoughts and force myself to draw my own line in the sand.

For instance, I never really knew where my line in the sand was regarding gun control legislation.  I always thought that I would just know when it had been crossed before, but now I have a concrete line – registration.  It wasn’t that I didn’t have one, it was just that it became clear to me when I forced myself to write one down that I needed to justify it in my own mind and according to my own principles.

So in accordance with principle-driven action, I’ve decided to take on a new mantle in defense of liberty and to combat tyranny on all fronts.  Control-minded politicians and authorities absolutely loathe self-reliant men and women who are willing and ABLE to defend their God-given rights and personal sovereignty.  I am going to start stretching out to friends and family that I know who are either unfamiliar with firearms or have yet to procure one and start trying to bend their ear so that they can not only come to grips with the political environment developing around them, but make a better informed decision regarding their own personal decision to own or not own a firearm.  What’s absolutely beautiful about it is that I can even tout the famous gun control mantra as I do it… if it saves just one life.



Everything is repetitive throughout history. The ebb and flow of tyranny and liberty is constantly changing and will be until our Lord returns from the heavens and crushes the head of tyranny for eternity.

I see the debate is framed here as it is in my own country; as a struggle between liberalism and conservatism.

Yet no matter how the struggle turns out, both the liberals and the conservatives feel frustration, no matter who “wins”, neither seem to enjoy the victory as “their” party fails to live up to its promises once in power.

You see there is another, less obvious, struggle at work in the body politic, and that is tyranny verses liberty. Tyranny is the natural course of professional politicians, whilst liberty is the heart’s cry of the populace.

Tyranny lives in the professional politician’s desire to remain in power, to increase his own personal power, and therefore the power of the central government over the people. He sells this through offering to lift the heavy burden of personal responsibility from off the shoulders of the populace.

The amount of this tyranny you allow is entirely based on the amount of personal responsibility you refuse to bear; for personal responsibility is the cornerstone of personal liberty. Surrender your personal responsibility to anyone or anything else, and that other controls your actions.

The true struggle of politics is therefore, how best to balance government control with personal responsibility. And the level of tyranny a people will abide is inversely proportional to their moral ability to shoulder personal responsibility.

This is the essential issue at root in terms of our fight for maintaining liberty.  Every year, every election, every political cycle removes us more from our founding principles and ultimately will mutate this society from one of self-reliance, faith, and prudence, but to one of dependence, apathy, and lustful pursuits.

Someone once asked me why I think that the Second Amendment is the most important right codified in the Constitution. Why are guns so important?

Guns, weapons of war held in private citizens’ hands, are the ultimate manifestation in the modern age of personal responsibility and sovereignty, and once the people abdicate or curtail their personal responsibility and sovereignty, then they will have fallen further into tyranny and exposed themselves to more of it in the coming age.

The simple truth is that, while I remain armed and able to exercise lethal force not just in defense of myself, but of others, and of liberty as an whole, tyranny will be stopped.

Tyranny of One

The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States.

What is tyranny?

The basic description in the dictionary is an oppressive power, especially when exerted by the government, but moreover, it also means a government in which absolute power is vested in a single ruler (Merriam-Webster).

Now you might be saying right now that it is impossible to have a tyranny in the United States.  We have separation of powers – three branches co-equal, but what happens when the most visible and public of those branches, the Executive, under the President begins to dictate to the others how they will behave and act?

If Congress doesn’t act, that is Congress’ prerogative.  Just because the President doesn’t like it does not give him the right or the justly derived powers to act unilaterally.  That is textbook tyranny.

An interesting thought occurred to me this morning.  It revolves around the concept of being light.  I plan on asking about this when I finally get a chance to sit down with my Creator face-to-face because my human mind is having a hard time wrapping itself around this one.

So if God separates the light from the darkness and we are instructed as Christians to have “nothing to do” with darkness and to expose and illuminate what is concealed, is this an act of of our own will or an act of God?  Or has God already separated the light (Godly and righteous) from the dark (sin) once for all eternity?  Did God foreshadow Christ’s sacrifice within the first few words of the Bible?

The elected body of the state of New York has voted to severely infringe on the Rights of it’s citizens. EFI is placing all state agencies, entities, and localities on our black list permanently. We will not remove these entities from banned status even upon repeal or court removal of these offensive gun control laws.

Any state that follows in the foot steps of New York will receive the same from us. As a member of the firearms and ammunition industry, we at EFI strongly encourage our peers in the industry to match us in our stance.


Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York – henceforth and until such legislation is repealed

Here’s a novel idea –

Firearms manufacturers – refuse to sell, ship spare parts for, or repair any firearms from states that pass more onerous restrictions (New York and California for now, possibly Colorado in the near future) and states where the leadership of the state or city has used their position to attempt to browbeat the industry via backchannels (Chicago thanks to Mayor Rahm Emanuel and New York City thanks to Mayor Michael Bloomberg).  This must also apply to all levels of government, whether they are cities, towns, counties, states, or the federal government itself.  Any restrictions on citizens’ rights will be met with equal restrictions on the arms available to the agencies of the government.
